This is Charlotte talks on my Collins net neutrality is just one and technology story in the news of late. In fact it just stop making headlines . First there were the arguments for and against that led up to the FCC’s decision to end it now . Congress may take another look at that decision and reverse it . You may not think much about net neutrality and maybe believe it doesn’t affect you . But if you carry a smartphone use a computer to get on the internet , or if you have a subscription to say Netflix this may impact you . But that’s just one technology story in the news . Among the others the precipitous drop last Friday and the value of Facebook stock it lost 19% of its value in one day . About $120 billion more than the entire capitalization of Macy’s . It was the largest one-day loss in value in the history of the stock market . So why did that happen and we’re going to take a look at both of those stories . This hour and bring you up to date on the impending arrival of 5 G cell phone service . Charlotte is one of a handful of cities to set to get that service before the end of this year and here to talk about all of that and more . Our 2 reporters who cover technology every day . Take a moment and explain the concept of net neutrality .
So net neutrality is ultimately an idea about fairness on the Internet. It’s the idea that as consumers , you should be able to access any kind of service that you like without being hamstrung or having your service manipulated by your internet provider and in order to sort of put that principle into .
