You will only be leaving no Bill the bill . You know I will not be really tell you all cool . They all agree with you , you can have your brain into this love . He thought a few leaves me gasping as I think it up . My heart is still from the from family it’s you don’t play those games me yes I know you would be . I need to baby , I’m really really really want it , all of the way you to the ball , I will be you know your your being really you know you’re you’re you’ll the leading you know your your pain . All of the way .
All right. And if you were just bouncing along in your chair with me , that was Naples guitarist and singer-songwriter matter Walden performing his song with you and again just want to remind listeners today’s show was recorded in advance , so we’re not taking calls , but you can still get in touch with the show through Facebook a WGC you public media or on Twitter . We’re at WGC you use the hashtag GC Al , I love that song based fun and it came back to you know early childhood here piano lessons beginning at 5 , that’s kind of militant do you come from a particularly musical family .
I don’t know where I I mean as hobbies yes my mom took a couple piano lessons when she was younger and she learned and she got share pretty she actually when I was young we used to play concertos and stuff together. Oh yeah , the piano teacher would make her learn too . So we go out maybe playing like these to 17 page , concertos it was ridiculous , but not my my dad didn’t really have anything in the musical side he does Kerry Oakey every now and then back who doesn’t , you know , so it sounds like you did eventually warm up to the piano I did . Yeah , no , it’s definitely it’s one of my go is in the studio , especially .
You and I’ve heard from a lot of musicians on the show in the past who who had sort of similar experiences starting out when they were really going on the piano. Then moving onto , you know , another instrument of their choosing . But they’ll are usually tell me that that experience had a lot of value . As far as developing musically . What was that the case for you .
Yeah I enough is I I hate it all , and now I’m like wow , this is the best thing that Senator happened to me. And in general , I was like , you know I I it wouldn’t have had any of his background . I wouldn’t be where I am in these shoes without that , you know .
Now what do you think it was they drew you to the guitar 13 cause I mean you’ve kind of made it clear already that that was , that was something you , Chad.
I know the exact answer to that one. Okay . I saw I I spent a lot of time on YouTube . As a kid you know 13 years old and I wish I would find some of these bands which I was very into pop punks . It’s like they did all these like like really , really cheesy kind I’ve mean not cheesy , but this is the band’s were like the main all-time low . Some of these more Papon blink 1-82 influence but definitely dedicated Lee I I can say it was strictly to girls but there , there are some , in my opinion I thought they were great . So I watch the tour videos on YouTube and I saw that they’re all playing guitars in like I would see their acoustic videos and then you know some of these other artists would drop acoustic songs and I was like , I want to do that we have you like I was influenced just from the the gig goers like if they can do that I can do that and so I was like mom I wanna play guitar solo from there , but I’ll never forgets in on the couch watching those videos going I’m I’m going to tour like that one day I’m also going to play an instrument like that .
And now I imagine other kids you know if anybody within an access can be following your YouTube channel and so you the same thing and maybe getting a dispute that plug and yeah Matt Walden. Yeah , you know , YouTube.com/Matt Walden by low on there and you know when it comes to playing guitar , I understand you’re you’re largely self-time again going back to YouTube like watching instructional videos .
YouTube has been the best friend that I never had. Yeah , I mean , cause you can find everything on there or Google in general but I was never going to pick up tabs and so I watch other people play and see like where they put their fingers and I was like , so that’s how you do it . And then I just play for their oh wow . Some songs are like crazy hard , though , I’m still not , but I would not say I’m fantastically guitar I scooped by nice nice and easy . Okay . But yeah I my my primary thing a choice is this thing called a loop pedal that I usually have on the ground around me and I just make different sounds and hit my guitar and beat box and stuff so .
Oh , it’s more entertaining for me hearing it in there. Yeah , it’s fun . Well , let’s go ahead and here are second song again . Tell us what we’re going to hear and .
Give us a little introduction. All right . Is it is a cool 5 bring the $5 it absolutely loaded slower . Okay , cool . I mean , listen , you guys a song called Yellow Rose started off as a poem about you know preserving something forever , which when you press a flower you can save its color for a lot longer than when it’s alive and it starts to feed and Wilton thigh . So I wanted to write a song about preserving somebody forever and that’s Hilary I feel it .
