The poll from the Pew Research Center finds that 6 in 10 Americans believe there are too few women in high political office but , Americans are divided sharply on that question with Democrats more likely than Republicans and women more likely than men to believe there are too few women elected officials. There are also sharp divisions on why there aren’t more women in office , Republican men in particular are much less likely than Republican women or Democratic men or women to say that gender discrimination and sexual harassment are keeping women out of office , Republican men are also less likely to think it’s because women need to do more to prove themselves .
