I’m John Davis today’s edition of the show features music and conversation with Southwest Florida guitarist and singer-songwriter Matt Walden , at just 23 years old , Walden , is a prolific songwriter who performs at venues throughout the region , and he’s already produced 3 studio albums of his original music with more in the works . While his unique style blends a broad spectrum of musical genres and is often characterized by his silky smooth vocals and catchy rhythms well here selections of Matt Walton’s original music recorded live in the WGC you studios and learn more about his musical background and his approach to writing new SARCs .

In Washington , I’m Lakshmi federal investigators are on the scene of a shooting at a Rite Aid distribution center in Aberdeen Maryland authorities are reporting multiple fatalities and wounded but exact numbers have not been confirmed . Harper County Sheriff Jeff Keller says the shooter has been arrested .
Lone suspects in this incident is in custody and is in critical condition at a local hospital. It appears to be a single weapon that was used a handgun and there were no shots fired by any of the law enforcement officers responding to the scene .

The poll from the Pew Research Center finds that 6 in 10 Americans believe there are too few women in high political office but , Americans are divided sharply on that question with Democrats more likely than Republicans and women more likely than men to believe there are too few women elected officials. There are also sharp divisions on why there aren’t more women in office , Republican men in particular are much less likely than Republican women or Democratic men or women to say that gender discrimination and sexual harassment are keeping women out of office , Republican men are also less likely to think it’s because women need to do more to prove themselves . Evacuees in North Carolina starting to return home even as floodwaters continue to rise in some areas we have more from NPR’s Jason Bell.
Another shelter here are set up in the gym of a Community College , the number of residents has dropped from more than 500 last week to now just under 150-73 year old Wesley Turner is one of them , he says. Florence pushed a foot and a half of water into his mobile home . He also had to flee floodwaters 2 years ago .
I’ve been around a lot of rubbish settle down and have a home and I can have a home just water system that keeps mess and everybody up.
The damage this time is so great , he doesn’t expect to be able to return to his trailer Turner says he’s been asking about FEMA assistance , but so far hasn’t gotten any answers. He has no idea where he is going to go once the floodwaters finally subside .

I I I don’t I don’t like the box of genre. So it’s definitely whenever I’ve been listening to whatever on I can put it closer I’m I’m bad at this . No , I I can’t , I can’t do it in a box , it’s definitely more of whatever I listening to a lot of Lily I could write a country song . I could write a hip hop song at Corona pop song . It all depends . I’m not a rapper at that , I will . I will get out occasionally . Yes . No I’m I’m definitely not the best rap him but I will dabble at quick poetry lines throughout science , you know .
And who would you say are some of your greatest musical influences like either from you know early childhood or just other musicians who influenced you today.
I I think every every musician.
Mainly I’m influenced by like her life well.
That’s probably me my too close. No no no no about was me . That’s right . Okay . Probably just life and I don’t really have too many crazy musical influences . I just kind of taken pick and choose from everyone .
Well , let’s just go back to the beginning of the guitars is clearly your primary instrument now but is that where you started musically.
No , I didn’t actually the guitar was kind of a fluke my mom’s forcing me to take piano lessons at the age of 5. Wow . Yeah . I hated it it was torture . I like this is , this is the worst thing why you making me do this , and then you know I moved a guitar like 13 and started picking that up because I was like , I can do this . This is what I wanna do you know . Thinking you know what’s up mom didn’t have to tell me how to do that one .
